Dr. Susan Coleman

Dr. Susan Coleman, Superintendent of Golf School District 67 for six years, is a lifelong advocate for special education. With over 15 years as a special education administrator, she has a rich background as an EL/ special education teacher. Having worked in various school types, from large unit districts to special education cooperatives, she has dedicated her career to fostering inclusive environments where every student can reach their full potential. She is also an expert in special education audits and consulting, helping districts enhance programming and comply with IDEA legislation. As Vice-Chair of ED-RED, she advocates for suburban schools. A published author, she has written on positive behavioral support and cyberbullying. Her leadership continues to shape education.

Becky Allard

Rebecca J Allard is a respected Chief School Business Official with over forty years in education. Beginning as a payroll bookkeeper, she advanced to assistant superintendent before retiring in 2015. She later supported eight districts, guiding superintendents on efficient operations.

Active in the Illinois Association of School Business Officials, she served as president (2002-2003) and received the Ronald E. Everett Distinguished Award in 2023. Rebecca values family above all, celebrates her 46th wedding anniversary this year, and enjoys Notre Dame games, Hawaiian getaways, and mystery novels. Her leadership and compassion continue to leave a lasting mark on education.

Joe Fatheree

Joe Fatheree is an award-winning author, educator, and filmmaker. This is his 36th year in public education. He was recognized as one of the top 10 Teachers in the World in 2016 by the Varkey Foundation. Joe is a leader and speaker in fields that range from the implementation of artificial intelligence in schools to education policy, innovation, and teacher leadership. In 2019, he received an invitation to join the Institute for Ethical AI in Education in the United Kingdom where he collaborated with members of Parliament, developers, academics, and educational advocates to create one of the world’s first model codes of ethics for AI in Education.  He co-chaired the North and South American Children’s AI Summit. In addition, Joe was recently appointed by Illinois Governor Pritzker to the statewide AI taskforce where he served as the chair for the K-12 subcommittee.  

Holly Kelly

Holly Kelly is the Director of Innovation and School Improvement, a Human-Centered Technology Specialist, and a lifelong educator who believes that meaningful change in schools begins with human connection. With a career spanning nearly two decades—including four years as a Regional Educational Technology Coordinator and over a decade as a Library Media Specialist—Holly bridges the gap between innovation and impact. She leads statewide initiatives that integrate social-emotional learning, digital responsibility, AI and media literacy into everyday teaching practices, equipping educators to lead with clarity, confidence, and conscience. Her experience as a keynote speaker and professional learning designer reflects her conviction that powerful ideas must not only inform—but transform.

At the core of Holly’s work is a guiding belief: technology should deepen relationships, not replace them. With a Master’s in Counseling and a gift for building trust, she brings insight and empathy to conversations about school improvement, educational equity, and digital thriving. Holly’s work challenges schools to reimagine what innovation looks like—not as a race toward shiny tools, but as a return to what matters most: purpose, presence, and people. Her leadership paints a vivid vision for the future of education—one rooted in agency, creativity, and the courage to lead with heart in a tech-centric world.

Cathy L. Johnson

Cathy Johnson is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Finance & Operations at Mundelein High School District 120 and Mundelein Elementary School District 75. 

With more than 20 years in schools overseeing large, small, rural and urban districts, Ms. Johnson has been in charge of the oversight of the  Business Office, Insurance, Accounts Payable, Buildings and Grounds, Technology, Food & Nutrition, Transportation and Purchasing. Her resounding philosophy is that whenever a tough decision needs to be made, the clear winner will always be the students and what is in their best interests.

Her professional affiliations include IASBO, including past president, ASBOI, IASPA, and Ed Red and she has served as a Joint Review Board member for multiple Tax Increment Finance committees.

Dr. David Bein

Dr. David Bein has spent the last two decades advising superintendents and board of education while serving as the Chief School Business Official for school districts in Illinois. Dr. Bein has also spent over 15 years in the private sector in areas including management consulting, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and business strategy.

Dr. Bein is a past president for the Illinois Association of School Business Officials, and a regular speaker on topics including board relations, leadership, and school finance. Dr. Bein earned his Ph.D. in Education Leadership from Concordia University, and his MBA, MS and BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Brian K. Wegley

Dr. Brian K. Wegley served as the Superintendent of Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 for eight years, following ten proud years as the Principal of Glenbrook South High School from 2005 to 2015. He graduated from Augustana College in 1988 with a degree in physics and mathematics and earned his doctorate in Administration and Supervision at Loyola University in 2012. 

Dr. Wegley’s accomplishments include significantly improving student learning and leading successful referenda. He remains committed to focused strategic planning implemented by high-functioning teams and continues to enjoy mentoring and helping districts improve in meaningful ways.

Dr. Laurie Heinz

Dr. Laurie Heinz is an accomplished educator with over three decades of experience in various leadership roles that include a proven track record in comprehensive curriculum planning, strategic planning, leadership coaching/mentoring, Board relations, facility and referendum planning.

A fierce advocate for students, Dr. Heinz is in her twelfth year as a Superintendent, seven of which have been as the leader of Palatine District 15, the second largest elementary district in Illinois. District 15 educates over 11,500 diverse learners across all or part of seven municipalities. She’s proud to serve as their first female Superintendent. Prior to her work in District 15, she served as the Superintendent in Park Ridge-Niles District 64.

Before becoming a Superintendent, she served as an Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, Principal, Assistant Principal and elementary teacher. She taught graduate courses, presented at conferences, served as President of the North Cook IASA, received her AASA National Superintendent Certification and was honored to be an AASA Superintendent to Watch.

Dr. Danny Woestman

Dr. Danny Woestman is the Superintendent for the Warren Township High School District #121 in Gurnee, Illinois, where he prioritizes visioning and communication in order to engage stakeholders in the work of continuous improvement. Before working in Gurnee he was the superintendent of schools in Belvidere Illinois, where he proudly transformed district schools to competency-based systems, increased teacher retention by 8% over 5 years and oversaw construction of Advanced Technology Center for the local community college. Prior to working in Belvidere, Dr. Woestman was a senior administrator in the Rockford Public Schools and at Hononegah Community High School after time as a high school English teacher.

Dr. Jason Henderson

Dr. Jason Henderson has dedicated 31 years to public education, serving in nearly every role across the field. He began as a mathematics teacher and coach at Triad High School before moving into administration, where he has served as elementary principal, curriculum director, CSBO, assistant superintendent, and now superintendent—first in Edwardsville and currently in Triad. Known for his focus on communication, transparency, and cultivating strong school cultures, Dr. Henderson is also recognized for his expertise in data analysis and school finance. His leadership has been instrumental in expanding opportunities for students and in the successful passage of multiple major funding initiatives.

Dr. Dean Romano

Dr. Dean Romano is a distinguished K-12 leader with 20 years of expertise in financial stewardship and operations, holding an EdD in Educational Leadership and CSBO/Superintendent endorsements. Known for strategic budgeting, long-range facilities planning, debt refinancing, transportation optimization, and collective bargaining modeling, he has achieved multimillion-dollar savings at Lake Zurich CUSD 95 and Geneva CUSD 304. As former IASBO President and adjunct faculty, he advises on fiscal transparency and systems enhancement. Dr. Romano excels in consulting, delivering data-driven insights, innovative financial strategies, and sustainable operations to elevate student success.

Dr. Niki Burkey

Dr. Niki Burkey brings over 25 years of experience in K–12 education. She began as a middle school science teacher and advanced to leadership roles, including Assistant Principal and Elementary Principal (PreK–5) in Community Unit School District 300. She later served as Director of Employee Relations & Recruitment, managing workforce planning, recruitment, and labor agreements. Now Assistant Superintendent of Schools, she oversees middle school operations, principal coaching, and instructional programs. Dr. Burkey holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Aurora University and offers expertise in strategic planning, HR, recruitment, instructional leadership, staff development, evaluation, and school improvement planning.
